The grip scales are original and have darkened with age. The guards of the hilt are wonderfully forged and have patinated a rich brown colour with hundreds of years of age. The pommel is an early working life replacement. The original bone (or tusk) pommel which are commonly chipped and broken has been replaced by a hardwood core surmounted on both sides by two brass plates, riveted with copper alloy rivets and embellished with floral bosses. The overall size of the piece coupled with the age and quality indicates an earlier date. A beautiful dagger that would go well in any. Dimensions = 10.5 inches (blade to hilt).
