Antique African Somalian Billa Blade Sword Dagger Knife Leather Sheath

  

Good quality African "Billa" or "Bellawa" knife from Somali in original tooled leather sheath. Traditional East African design with long double edged leaf-shaped blade. The hilt formed with layers of alternate buffalo horn and bras. Similar knives served most notably as close-quarters weapon in the Dervish State, at the turn of the 20th century.

Total length in scabbard: 28.5 cm (11 1/4). Length of the blade with handle: 27 cm (10 2/3). Length of the blade without handle: 16.5 cm (6 1/2).
