18th C German Dagger with Flamboyant Blade

  
A well crafted personal defense dagger. The double edged, flamboyant blade is stout and a useful length. The antler hilt has an extended finial that would have provided an effective and damaging back stroke. The horn hilt was chosen for a right handed grip and has a silver plate mounted where the horn was sculpted. The blade has not been cleaned. There is some dark spotting but no rust. The leather scabbard has probably been replaced at some time in the past but is of a design that would have fit into a waist band. Overall length 12 3/4, blade 7 1/8.
