100% ORIGINAL PERIOD ITEM, NOT CONTEMPORARY JUNK HEAP! I found this knife on a Saturday's flea market in Germany. I guess this is probably a WWI French trench knife, made of a four-edged spike/needle blade of a French Lebel bayonet. The handle/grip is entirely made of steel, strong, solid and massive. During the long winter months of the First World War, in the trenches the soldiers were dressed in t-shirts, jackets, shinels and fur jackets.
It was impossible to be pierced with a regular bayonet because of thick clothing.... For this reason, trench knives were made in the shape of spike/needle. I guess this is one of those knives. Overall length - 30.7 cm, blade - 20.0 cm. Extremely rare dagger knife in authentic condition.
