This is high quality, custom made, tactical dagger. It is stamped by the maker "JB" which I presume is JB Knife and Tool. It is tool steel (either D2 or A2) and it has a parkerized finish. The blade is a classic dagger shape and aesthetic pleasing in its lines and form.It is not a flashy knife, more one of understated elegance. Its design prescribes to the form follows function concept. The blade stock at the center spline is 6mm thick (thick, strong and heavy enough for slashing blows). The blade is hollow/concave and ground by hand. This type of hollow/concave grind is the most difficult to perform by hand and is an art form of the knife maker. From the central spline the blade tapers elegantly down to appx 1.25 to 1.5 mm. The double edges have a customized tactical edge profile and are sharp. There are no chips or damage to the blade. Parkerizing is a method of protecting a steel. And increasing its resistance to wear through the application of a chemical phosphate conversion coating. Parkerizing is usually considered to be an improved zinc or manganese phosphating process, and not to be an improved iron phosphating process, although some use the term parkerizing as a generic term for applying phosphating (or phosphatizing) coatings that does include the iron phosphating process. Bonderizing , phosphating , and phosphatizing are other terms associated with the Parkerizing process. Parkerizing is commonly used on firearms. As a more effective alternative to bluing.
Which is an earlier-developed chemical conversion coating. It is also used extensively on automobiles to protect unfinished metal parts from corrosion.
