Antique 19th Indo-Persian Bichwa knife Twin Blade Silver Koftgari Armor piercing
This Maratha dagger has two double edged, recurved, carbon steel blades thickened at the tip to penetrate armor. The loop hilt and guard are forged from a single piece of carbon steel and are decorated with silver koftgari in a foliage motif. The word Bichwa means scorpion. The inside of the loop hilt would have originally been padded. Bichwa were originally Maratha knives Paul, Arms and Armour pp. Additional photos and references available upon request.
